We’ve had an eventful semester here at Bemidji State — enrollment is up, the campus has seen significant construction, and we learned that we’ll be getting a new president. Here is a look back at some of our biggest stories of the fall.
In August, Dr. Richard A. Hanson announced that he will retire this coming June after six years as president. Chancellor Rosenstone has assembled a search advisory committee with the goal of naming a new president by April.
BSU lifted the veil on the newly-renovated Memorial Hall during a Homecoming ribbon-cutting ceremony. Lisa, a senior in marketing communication, said at the ceremony, “The new Memorial Hall is everything I hoped it would be.”
In November, Vice President of Finance and Administration Karen Snorek provided an update on BSU’s proposed $18 million project to replace Hagg-Sauer Hall with a smaller Academic Learning Center and renovate several other buildings.
Jane, a junior in community health, is one of the 5,013 students who attended Bemidji State this fall. That total was a 2.2-percent increase over the fall of 2014 and our highest enrollment since 2012.
For the eighth consecutive year, Bemidji State found itself among U.S. News & World Report’s Top 100 master’s universities in the Midwest Region, and ranked 34th among the region’s public colleges and universities.
