Initiative
Proposal/Recommendation and Code Number:
(Code number consists of committee initials.fiscal year.initiative number,
e.g. AAC.03.01.)
Code Numbers: AAC.03.02; SUSC 03.02.
The attached calendars are proposed for the 2004-2006 academic years,
along with a comparison chart. The calendars are based on the following
guidelines which have been approved by the Faculty Senate and recommended
by the University and Executive Councils.
The academic calendar should
- promote student success—put their
learning needs first - by building adequate and well-spaced breaks
into each semester, and creating semesters
that have the same number of instruction days;
- maintain our current
standard of 15 classroom hours per credit;
- include well-spaced and periodic
breaks that facilitate student, faculty, and staff health and well-being.
On
5/7/03 the Academic Affairs Committee approved the calendars and endorsed
Calendar A.
On 4/30/03 the Student & University Services Committee
approved the calendars without stating a preference for one model over
the other.
