A psychological examination and background investigation are also required.

Students not pursuing a four-year degree may choose to work toward the Associate in Science degree (two-year program) in Criminal Justice. Students in the A.S. degree program are also required to complete Liberal Education requirements. The A.S. degree program meets the Peace Officer Standards and Training Board's academic requirements for law enforcement personnel in Minnesota.
