ALERT: To be licensed by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Board in order to practice law enforcement in Minnesota, a student must be certified in crash injury management, as an emergency medical technician, or obtain a Red Cross Advanced Certificate by taking HLTH 3600. In addition, CRJS 3359 Criminal Investigation, CRJS 3360 Criminal Procedure, CRJS 4480 Policing People, and a course in Traffic Code must also be completed. A psychological examination and background investigation are also required.

Criminal Justice, A.S.

Students not pursuing a four-year degree may choose to work toward the Associate in Science degree (two-year program) in Criminal Justice. Students in the A.S. degree program are also required to complete Liberal Education requirements. The A.S. degree program meets the Peace Officer Standards and Training Board's academic requirements for law enforcement personnel in Minnesota.
