Creative and Professional Writing Major, B.F.A.

Note: A bachelor's degree requires 128 credits, 40 credits of which must be taken at the 3000 and 4000 levels. Please keep this in mind when selecting electives for the B.F.A.

I. Required Writing Component

1. Take the following course:

3. Take 6-8 additional credits either from the above areas, from courses offered as ENGL 3555 English Topics writing courses, or from arranged courses, to bring total writing credits to 21.

II. Required Literature Component

Select 9 credits from the following courses, with two courses from one area:

ENGL 2350 American Literature, to 1900 (3 credits)
ENGL 2355 American Literature, 1900 to Present (3 credits)

ENGL 2360 English Literature, to 1800 (3 credits)
ENGL 2365 English Literature, 1800 to Present (3 credits)

ENGL 2370 World Literature, to 1600 (3 credits)
ENGL 2375 World Literature, 1600 to Present (3 credits)
 
Select 12 additional credits of ENGL literature, film, or criticism courses at the 3000 level or above. PHIL 2240 Aesthetics (3 credits) and/or PHIL 2310 Philosophy and Literature (3 credits) may be taken in place of 3 to 6 of these credits.

III. Required Elective Component

With consent of advisor, select 15 credits in an individualized, focused program.
