Computer Science Minor, B.S.

The Bachelor of Science minor in Computer Science is designed to provide students with the opportunity to obtain a background in computer science that will enhance their major areas of study and increase their employability.

Note: Transfer students must take a minimum of 6 semester credits in the minor at Bemidji State University.

Note: Asterisked (*) courses have prerequisites not included in this minor.

I. Required Courses

*CS 1309 Problem Solving and Computer Science (4 credits)
*CS 2321 Computer Science I (4 credits)
CS 2322 Computer Science II (4 credits)

Subtotal 12 Credits

II. Required Emphasis

Select either of the following:

A. Teaching Emphasis

For teaching majors only. There is no licensure based on minor preparation in Computer Science.

Required Electives

Select 9 semester credits from CS 2810 and Computer Science courses at the 3000 and 4000 levels. Teaching majors should take CS 3420 Educational Applications of Computers whenever possible.

B. Non-Teaching Emphasis

Additional Required Courses

*MATH 2171 Concepts of Calculus I (5 credits)
or *MATH 2471 Calculus I (5 credits)

Select 6 semester credits from CS 2810 and Computer Science courses at the 3000 and 4000 levels.
