The A.C. Clark Library provides access to nearly one-quarter of a million books, subscriptions to more than 20,000 electronic and hardcopy periodicals, more than 100,000 government publications, and a variety of digital and audio visual materials, maps, and microforms. A part of MnPALS, Bemidji State’s library catalog provides comprehensive bibliographic access to library holdings throughout Minnesota. The library’s web page also provides access to a wide variety of electronic indexes, to abstract and full text resources, and to many electronic reference tools.
In addition, as a member of MINITEX, the library provides access to off-campus resources through MINITEX’s extensive interlibrary loan network. This wide knowledge base helps support all of BSU’s academic programs.
Bemidji State University offers remedial courses in ESL for the non-native English speaking student. The ESL courses are designed to encourage the learning of the structure and usage of the English language and to improve the student's overall skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These courses assist the non-native English speaking student by providing individualized learning strategies and an ongoing support system while making cultural adjustments.
All international students whose first language is other than English are required to participate in the English assessment and placement program at orientation. Students who are required to participate in ESL must satisfy all language deficiencies within two consecutive semesters.
The International Program Center is responsible for international student admission. It also provides orientation for international students and processes immigration documents related to student visas, employment, extension of stays, etc. In addition, the Center offers administrative support for international studies activities, including study abroad, domestic travel study, and exchange programs.
