This course will consist of class lectures, demonstrations, and listening examples of jazz artists that will provide the backround information needed to understand and appreciate the music that has shaped our culture. In tests, papers, and class presentations, students will demonstrate the ability to identify and describe musical examples. Each student will demonstrate knowledge of the cultural backround of the musical examples. Open to all students. Liberal Education Categories 6 & 7.
