BSU Earns High Marks @ National Collegiate Sales Competition

Jul 8, 2009

BSU students compete at NCSC

The National Collegiate Sales Competition (NCSC) is the only competition in existence where students from all over North America can test their selling skills in one-on-one sales call challenges. The NCSC, held at Georgia’s beautiful Kennesaw State University, hosts the top collegiate sales talent and faculty from the most elite Collegiate Sales Programs in North America.

The 11th Annual welcomed 106 competitors and 100 alternates from 53 colleges and universities, 30 corporate sponsors and over 200 student volunteers from KSU, totaling more than 600 participants.

In BSU’s maiden entry at the NCSC, BSU’s Amy Lytle made it into the quarter finals. Considering our rookie status and having a low seeding in the initial rounds we are proud of her finishing position. The competition was fierce and unlike any we had seen at our before. Our other competitor, Casey Allar was eliminated in the wildcard round. Our 2 alternates Robyn McBrady and Leo Clark III got to observe some competition and participated in a voluntary 90 second “Elevator Pitch” competition, held by the Executive Sponsor, Standard Register.  All of our students spent quality time in the recruiting fair and interacted with all of the corporate sponsors in attendance.

This year BSU was invited to attend due to Amy Lytle winning the championship at a regional competition at the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire. We formed a team comprised of 2 contestants (seniors) and 2 alternates (juniors). Since students are only allowed to compete once, the education, practice and exposure to the contest are invaluable to the alternates who will be competing next year.

BSU is now listed among the most elite Collegiate Sales Programs in North America.  That recognition alone brings great pride and recognition to our campus. Our trip would not have been possible, if not for the encouragement and financial support of the Federated Insurance Company.
