Internship Option

Students in the Sociology Major must choose between either the Internship or the Thesis option.

Students choosing the Internship Option as a capstone experience in the Sociology major complete a 100 hour internship with a business or organization appropriate for their career goals. Students are responsible (with faculty guidance) for finding a suitable internship opportunity, compiling a successful application package, and completing the internship. This option provides students with:

• real world experience in the career path they have chosen
• a trial in which students can assess their suitability for their career goals
• an enhanced network of job opportunities
• possible continued employment with the organization
