Apply For Chemistry Scholarships

Bemidji State’s chemistry department offers over $20,000 of scholarships annually. These scholarships are available to all chemistry degree seekers.  Each scholarship has its own unique set of qualifications.  To be eligible for the chemistry scholarships, fill out Chemistry Scholarship Application by March 15th.

Available Scholarships

STEM Scholarship

Applications: Submit the Foundation Scholarship application form by February 1st.

Award: Up to $15,000 per year for up to 5 years to cover the full cost of attendance (tuition, fees, housing, meals, etc.).

Criteria: Student enrolled at least half-time with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Must be Pell-eligible as determined by the FASFA.

Dr. Elwood Largis Family Scholarship

Criteria: Student(s) majoring in a Science who indicate a financial need and have a current GPA of 3.0 or better. Consideration will be given for students who may not necessarily have the requisite GPA, but who show exceptional promise or steady academic improvement and enthusiasm.

Dr. Gene and Colleen Ness Scholarship

Criteria: Junior or senior chemistry major with a GPA of 3.0 or greater. Financial need shall also be a consideration.

Dr. Tom and Jan Boates Chemistry Scholarship

Criteria: Senior chemistry major with a minimum GPA of 3.25 at the time of application who plans to pursue graduate studies in sciences and to conduct a research project in his/her senior year.

Drs. Dick and Eleanore Edwards Scholarship

Criteria: Junior or Senior Music or Science major with 3.00 GPA with financial need and from northern MN.

G.S Droba Science Scholarship

Criteria: To a full-time undergraduate student(s) majoring in Engineering Physics or sciences who meet academic requirements.

Harold T. Peters Scholarship

Criteria: Awarded to a major in Chemistry

Jack Quistgard Pre-Pharmacy Scholarship

Criteria: Pre-Pharmacy student with a GPA of 3.7 or higher and demonstrated evidence of community service.

Jennifer Jane Eddy Chemistry Scholarship

Criteria: Junior or Senior Chemistry major with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

John and Mary Traxler Scholarship

Criteria: BSU student who has completed the biochemistry sequence or is engaged in biochemical research. The student should have a minimum GPA of 3.00 at the time of application for the scholarship and have plans to pursue a career in a biochemical or a medical related field.

LeRoy Erickson Scholarship

Criteria: Major in science education or math education with demonstrated financial need and a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Mary Helen Tarter Scholarship

Criteria: Undergrad or Graduate Chemistry or Biology student with 2.5 minimum GPA.

Noel Clay Science Abroad Scholarship

Criteria: Major in Biology or Chemistry, participating in a short-term academic program outside of the United States.

Norman A. Kramer Chemistry Scholarship

Criteria: Two full-time students majoring in Chemistry.

Paul and Tammi Hedtke Science Scholarship

Criteria: Declared major in science with a minimum GPA of 3.25.

Ray Breen Scholarship- Chemistry

Criteria: Chemistry Major.

Richard E. Beitzel Scholarship

Criteria: Outstanding organic chemistry student(s).

Ruth Lane Memorial Scholarship

Criteria: Sophomore, Junior or Senior majoring in Science with 3.0 GPA and financial need.

Ruth Warde Research Scholarship

Criteria: Declared Chemistry or Biology major performing a research project. Faculty liason will ensure that research is performed in the area of human medical or health care, preferably related to treatment or cure of diseases and will assure that the research is useful, substantial and performed by the student receiving the scholarship.

Sidney Melby Memorial Scholarship

Criteria: Junior or Senior majoring in the sciences and/or music.

William Britton Scholarship

Criteria: Outstanding analytical chemistry student(s).
