Janet E. Prater

Janet Prater has been an attorney for 30 years in Michigan and practiced both criminal and civil law there.  She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Michigan and her Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University in Detroit.  Janet recently earned a Master’s degree in Counselor Education from Wayne State University and she has a strong interest in health-law issues. She has taught a variety of law, counseling and criminal justice courses and from her research in domestic and sexual violence, has developed related courses at the undergraduate, graduate and law school levels.  Janet enjoys learning and teaching very much.  She finds the greatest enjoyment in teaching to be the positive interaction with students.  Janet has been married for 25 years and has two daughters.
