The English Department at Bemidji State offers you ways to direct your love of literature or writing into careers and graduate study. The faculty will help you choose the program that is right for you based on your personal desires and goals. At activities such as Eat Your Words, a monthly informal conversation between English Department faculty and English majors, you can ask questions about jobs, graduate study, publishing, writing for a living, writing for your classes. In your classes, you can serve on publishing editorial boards, or prepare yourself to teach in high school or college. If you want to go on for a PhD, to write a book of poems, or to be the English major on the staff at an organization or business--the one who knows how to read critically and write beautifully--you can find the path here.
