Minor in Electronic Writing
Certificates in Electronic Writing

The new writing is electronic writing, digital media, and social networking: web sites, weblogs, wikis, instant messaging, podcasting.

New forms of writing create new demands on writers, new ways of communicating, and new ways of working with others. And new forms open new opportunities for freelancing and publication.

To address the change, the BSU English Department now offers a Minor in Electronic Writing, and Undergraduate and Graduate Certificates in Electronic Writing.

The minor prepares you for professions in web writing, web design, technical writing, new media, teaching with digital media, and freelancing. The minor is designed for English BA and BS students seeking an emphasis in writing, and for BFA students who are focusing on 21st century forms and media.

The certificate is open to any student and emphasizes, as the minor does, informed practice. Certificates are intended for current students who seek to supplement their current degree, and for returning students.
