Graduate Certificate in Electronic Writing

The graduate certificate is designed for professionals working in their fields who wish to communicate their work to others (such as engineers, scientists and entrepreneurs) through electronic media, for professional writers who wish to work in electronic media, and for teachers of writing.   With foci on writing as a communicative art, a design art, and a professional art, the courses give students practice in real-world scenarios, while teaching the underpinnings and strategies for taking control of and addressing professional writing situations. Three elective course tracks allow students to emphasize writing, web design, or teaching writing.

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects increased needs in electronic writing: "Online publications and services are growing in number and sophistication, spurring the demand for writers and editors, especially those with Web experience."

Certificates appear on your academic transcript. They are excellent ways to enhance your studies because they provide a concentration of courses that can complement your major or give you knowledge and expertise in a second field for which you have a passion. Graduate schools and employers are always happy to see a candidate who has proven skills in electronic writing.
