Scholarship Opportunities

MN Space Grant College Consortium

Bemidji State University belongs to the Minnesota Space Grant Consortium which is a member of the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Fellowship and scholarship opportunities are available each spring for the following year.

Application deadline for Fall 2009 awards is April 7 , 2009.

Purpose of the Space Grant Fellowship

to promote a strong science, mathematics and technology base from elementary school through university levels
to assist in establishing a national network of universities with capabilities in space studies and related fields
to recruit and train professionals, especially under-represented groups, for careers in aerospace science, technology, and related fields

Focus at Bemidji State University

to promote an interest in space studies through the establishment of an interdisciplinary minor
to supplement the education of prospective teachers, scientists, social scientists and humanities majors
to provide new opportunities for employment to all students

Eligibility Requirements

US citzenship
sophomore standing
completion of liberal education science requirement as specified in catalog
enrollment in space studies courses during scholarship year and/or declared minor in space studies
eligibility for reapplication based on declaration of minor and participation within the program while under scholarship

Application/Renewal

Please fill out the information form [Doc or PDF] and include the following:

A copy of a recent college transcript (unofficial copy is OK)
A letter of application/renewal (one page, double-spaced, describing your educational and career goals and other justifications for receiving or continuing this award)
New applicants: At least one, and no more than three letters of recommendation from individuals with knowledge of the applicant’s academic or professional activities.
