Dr. Jim White is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education, Health and Sport at Bemidji State University, Bemidji, MN. He teaches a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses including course work in disease prevention, community health, health care policy, and law. Additionally, he coordinates the Community Health (B.S.) internship and practicum experiences. Jim received his Bachelors degree in Sport Studies and Management from Bemidji State University, a Masters of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from University of Kentucky and a Ph.D. in Human Development from North Dakota State University. He serves and on multiple university committees, is on a non-profit board and task force advisary groups within his community. Dr. White has been working full time in the health promotion field for over 17 years. Prior to his move to academia he worked with MeritCare Health Systems Department of Cardiovascular Rehabilitation in Fargo, ND. He spent nine years as an Exercise Physiologist caring for patients across the age spectrum with chronic disease and he also help create and coordinate a successful faith community-based health promotion program entitled Faithfully Fit Forever. Dr. White holds ertifications from the American College of Sports Medicine as a Clinical Exercise Specialist® and the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist®. Jim has authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles, and has had two book chapters published in a college-level health and wellness text. Dr. White has presented at over 20 national or regional health-related conferences on variety of topics.
