• Scholarships for Women

To apply you should submit the following to Dr. Donna Palivec, PE 218, by FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2014:

1. A letter of application which indicates the scholarships for which you are applying, your student ID number, your current GPA, the number of credits earned, and your anticipated date of graduation.
2. Your professional philosophy.
3. Your resume:  The following are examples of items to include in the resume:  educational background, professional activities and experiences, professional memberships, creative and competitive activities, community service and activities in college.

Marion Christianson and Betsy McDowell Scholarship

Declared Major (program of study): Physical Education
Current GPA: 3.0 in major
Credits: 64 or more by Fall 2014
Amount of award: ~$700 (exact amount determined early spring semester)

Criteria for Selection:

1. Philosophy
2. Involvement in a variety of departmental and university wide activities
3. Selection committee: HPSH faculty

Otto Erickson Memorial Fund

Declared Major (program of study): HPSH Department
Current GPA: 3.0 or higher
Credits:
Amount of award: ~$200 (exact amount determined early spring semester)

Criteria for Selection:

1. Financial need
2. HPSH chair, men's athletic director, women's athletic director.

Muriel B. Gilman Exercise Science Scholarship

Declared Major (program of study): Exercise Science
Current GPA: 2.9 or better
Credits: 80 credits completed at time of application and 96 or more by Fall 2014
Amount of award: ~$900 (exact amount determined early spring semester)

Criteria for Selection:

1. Professional and/or scholarly activity
2. Selection committee: Chair HPSH and two other professors who teach exercise science classes.

Willie Stittsworth DAPE Scholarship

Declared Major (program of study): Physical Education with a DAPE Minor
Current GPA: 2.75 or higher
Credits: 64 or more credits by Fall 2012 and at least 3 credits in DAPE Core
Amount of award: ~$400 (exact amount determined early spring semester)

Criteria for Selection:

1. Evidence of active participation in the DAPE field outside of the classroom
2. Selection committee: a professor in DAPE core, HPSH department chair and one other professor in HPSH

Beulah Gregoire Scholarship

Declared Major (program of study): Physical Education
Current GPA: 3.0 or higher
Credits:
Amount of award: ~$400 (exact amount determined early spring semester)

Criteria for Selection:

1. Exhibits professional leadership qualities, creative talents and/or campus contributions
2. Selection committee: HPSH faculty

Sam & Peggy Johnson PE Scholarship

Declared Major (program of study): Physical Education
Credits: Sophomore status - earned a minimum of 30 credits by the end of Spring, 2014
Amount of award: ~$800 (exact amount determined early spring semester)

Criteria for Selection:

1. Professional & educational goals
2. Department of HPSH involvement
3. Selection committee: HPSH faculty
