The Theatre Program at Bemidji State University approaches theatre production with a professional focus on learning. The program serves both the educational and artistic needs of all members of the BSU community interested in theatre exploration and investigation. Students are guided through producing shows with faculty in the main stage season. Our student organization, Theatre Unlimited puts on several productions each year, and we also collaborate with other groups on campus to create productions that supplement the main stage season.

Our program is an active participant in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), and our students have participated as actors, playwrights, stage managers and designers at the week-long KCACTF Region V annual conference.

Our faculty have taken leadership roles in professional and academic organizations, and combined provide a wealth of professional, international and academic experience, and our students have the opportunity to work closely with this faculty and benefit from this experience.

The theatre program is an inclusive environment welcoming all members of the BSU community. Season selections, course content, and production practices are decided with the BSU signature themes of international/multicultural understanding, civic engagement and environmental stewardship in mind.
