Facilities

Bemidji State University has a fine physical facility for producing theatre. We are located in Bangsberg Hall, lakeside at the south end of campus. The Main Stage is a proscenium-style theatre with an apron (capacity: 260); our Downstairs Theatre is a “black-box”-style theatre which can be reconfigured for each show (capacity: 90). We have well-equipped scene and costume shops to support our productions. We have recently updated our lighting instrument inventory as part of this overall effort to “green” our production process, and now have new, energy efficient instruments for our mainstage. Even more important than having facilities and equipment, however, is that you will learn to use all of it safely, effectively and responsibly. You can even earn money doing so, as we hire a number of work-study and regular payroll student workers to help in constructing costumes and scenery, working on lights and sound, painting sets, creating properties, etc. Please check the position listing at the student employment website for more information.
