MDU Resources of Bismarck, N.D., established a scholarship for outstanding second-, third- and fourth-year students who have a GPA of at least 3.0 and are majoring in Computer Science, business, economics, finance, engineering or energy and related disciplines that align with Great Plains Natural Gas Co.’s core business focus.
In order for students to be eligible, their hometowns must be one of these Minnesota communities: Sauk Rapids, Monticello, Albertville, Alexandria, Annandale, Avon, Baxter, Becker, Bemidji, Braham, Caledonia, Deerwood, Forest Lake, Glencoe, Hinckley, Hutchinson, Isanti, LeRoy, Litchfield, Little Falls, Longville, Mabel, Milaca, North Branch, Pierz, Pine River, Preston, Princeton, Richmond, Rushford, Spring Grove, Spring Valley, St. Cloud, St. Joseph or Staples. Students whose hometown is Fargo, N.D. or one of these Iowa communities — Decorah, Elkader, Sioux City, Stratford, Lansing — are also eligible.
The scholarship is typically awarded in the spring of odd-numbered years to an outstanding Computer Science student, selected by department faculty. All Computer Science majors who have met the GPA and hometown requirements are automatically given consideration for this scholarship.
