Dr. Julie Bengtson is Assistant Professor of Music Theory at Bemidji State University. She received a B.S. degree in music education from Luther College in Decorah, IA in 1975 and earned her Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Music Theory from the University of Iowa. She has taught music theory classes at BSU since 1983.
As a performing musician, Dr. Bengtson has been principal oboist with the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra since 1981. She has performed with the Bemidji Baroque Ensemble and other chamber groups in the area, and periodically has taught oboe classes and private lessons for the BSU Department of Music.
