Dr. Patrick Riley


Strings / Theory

Dr. Patrick Riley joined the music faculty at B.S.U. in 1973. Dr. Riley was a scholarship student at the Peabody Conservatory, and graduated in 1968 with a BM in Cello and Music Theory/Composition. He received a graduate degree in Cello Performance and Pedagogy from The American University, and holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from The University of Iowa. He completed two semesters of post-doctoral work in Ethnomusicology at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Riley is the principal cellist of the Bemidji Symphony and plays bass in the Bemidji Jazz Quartet and the Bemidji Big Band.
