Margaret Maxwell - piano, harpsichord, organ, and class piano - earned a B.S. degree from the University of Illinois where she studied with Soulima Stravinsky and Malcolm Bilson, continued her study at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, with Dallas Weekley, and earned a M.S. degree from Bemidji State University. She has been an adjunct faculty member at BSU since 1980.
Ms. Maxwell is the harpsichordist with the Bemidji Baroque Ensemble, the accompanist for Opera Night, the All American Senior Choir, and collaborates with faculty and student soloists and small ensembles in many performances each year.
She is a founding member of the North Country Keyboard Teachers Association, a member of the Minnesota Music Teachers Association, the Midwestern Historical Keyboard Society, and a board member of the Minnesota Music Teachers Association Foundation. Ms. Maxwell also maintains a large independent piano studio.
Ms. Maxwell founded and directs Piano Camp, part of Summer MusiCamp, as a way to bring piano students together for a week of ensemble playing and individual study. She continues to explore the use of innovative teaching techniques and technology in the private studio setting.
