The BSU Trumpet Ensemble is comprised completely of trumpet majors. The group rehearses once per week and performs throughout the community and region. In 2004, the group was invited to perform as the Trumpet Prelude for Allen Vizzuttis concert at the International Trumpet Guild conference in Denver, Colorado. They are only trumpet ensemble from the upper Midwest invited to perform at an ITG conference in the past ten years!

The Trumpet Studio at Bemidji State University holds a reputation as one of the finest in the Midwest. In addition to a busy schedule of student recitals, BSU trumpet students are fortunate to enjoy recitals and masterclasses by world renown trumpet artists. BSU has hosted recent appearances by Allan Dean (Summit Brass , Yale University, St. Louis Brass Quintet), the Minnesota Orchestra Trumpet Section, Rex Richardson (of Rhythm and Brass), the American Brass Quintet (from Juilliard), Vincent DiMartino, Joyce Davis, Byron Stripling, Niklas Eklund (from Sweden!), Ed Tarr (famous trumpet historian and natural trumpet performer), Bret Jackson, and Bobby Shew. Other trumpeters who have appeared in past years include Jeff Jarvis, Bob Baca, and Maynard Ferguson.
