Hello, as a Minnesota native I have known and loved the Bemidji area since I was a small child. My family has a picture of me posing with Paul and Babe when I was about 3 years old. Northern Minnesota gets and stays in your blood.
As a new faculty member to Bemidji State University I look forward to working with students of all ages and backgrounds.
I recently completed my Doctorate of Philosophy in Adult and Post Secondary Education from Capella University. I received my masters degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix, my bachelor degree from Bethel University, my associate degree in science (RN) from Anoka-Ramsey Community College, and my LPN, applied associate of science degree from Anoka Technical College. As you can see I have been and continue to be a life-long learner.
In 2001 I started working as an adjunct clinical instructor for Anoka-Ramsey Community College. I have nursing experience in Medical – surgical, acute care, and maternal newborn. I have also worked as a charge or head nurse and the nursing house supervisor. Prior to joining BSU, I was the Dean of Educational Services, Nursing, PTA and Allied Health for Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
I believe that learning is a process that evolves over time and requires active participation from the learner and the instructor. Reflection and self-analysis are other key components. The three components of hearing, seeing, doing, simply state my theory of learning.
I enjoy reading, quilting, crafts and over the years have raised horses, sheep, operated a dairy farm, raised three children and have tried to see life as an exciting adventure. My children have grown and I have one grand-daughter 'Sophia' that delights me every time she is with me.
I look forward to being a part of your educational journey, as you will become a part of my journey.
