The nursing class of 1999 was given the assignment of designing a class logo. Together the class brainstormed ideas for a design and motto representing BSU's nursing program. A multigenerational family is depicted symbolizing nursing care throughout the life span. Our chosen motto, "Nursing: Caring for Life" signifies both the care and commitment of nursing throughout history. A classmate suggested encircling the family in the Native American medicine wheel to symbolize cross-cultural nursing The colors white, yellow, red, and black stand for the four races of humankind. In these traditional cultures, a circle signifies no beginning or end, wholeness, equality, unity, strength, and balance
