Assessments

Assessment and evaluation are integral components of the professional education sequence and are used to monitor teacher candidate performance and program effectiveness.

Each teacher candidate in the Department of Professional Education is required to purchase a subscription of the Learning Assessment Tools (LAT), which is the student side of TaskStream.  All candidate assessment data will be stored in TaskStream throughout his/her program.

Undergraduate Assessment

Currently, the following data is collected on each undergraduate student:

Entrance Requirements

  • G.P.A. of 2.5
  • 30 credits in Liberal Arts
  • Evidence of having taken the Basic Skills Test (MTLE or Praxis as appropriate)
  • PEDL programs only - Confirmation from a school principal that the candidate has been assigned a mentor

Mid-Point Assessment Requirements

Exit Criteria*

* Passing scores on the MTLE Pedagogy and Content(s) examinations are required to obtain a Minnesota Teaching license.

Graduate Assessment

Currently, the following data is collected on each graduate student:

Entrance Requirements*

  • G.P.A. of 3.0
  • Bachelor's degree in Education
