Master of Education Degree Program

Bemidji State University's Department of Professional Education offers a 38-credit Master of Education (M.Ed.) applied degree for practicing pre-K through post-secondary teachers and for others interested in education. The M.Ed. degree core courses are designed to meet six program standards adapted from the . Additional coursework for the M.Ed. includes ED 6155 Capstone Experience and advanced elective coursework.

*ED 6920 DGS: Written Exam meets the comprehensive exam requirement of the School of Graduate Studies. It is to be taken after all other core course requirements have been met.

Electives (16 Credits)

Electives are selected with the guidance of a BSU advisor, and then submitted to the department chair and graduate dean for their approval. Courses taken for elective credit must be at the graduate level (5000 or 6000 level) and relevant to a student's academic goals and needs. Up to ten credits of graduate-level elective courses may be transferred into a student's program if the courses are taken at an accredited university. Up to five credits of graduate-level workshop courses may be used as electives for a student's degree program if the workshop courses are taken at BSU or another accredited university.
