Undergraduate students at Bemidji State University may elect to take some special education courses while working on their undergraduate degree in early childhood education, elementary education, or secondary education and apply those credits to the graduate specific learning disability (SLD) or emotional/behavioral disordered (EBD) licensure programs. They will finish their special education licensure after graduation.
Undergraduate Special Education Electives
Special education courses at the 3000 and 4000 level may be taken as electives by undergraduate students. Undergraduate students should work in consultation with their advisor before enrolling in these classes.
American Sign Language (ASL)
BSU offers two ASL courses that apply to Area 7 of Liberal Education.
Special Education Intern Program
The Special Education Intern Program is for undergraduate and graduate students who wish to participate in a paid teaching experience in a special education setting while completing an education degree at BSU. Contact the Clinical Experiences Office in the Department of Professional Education or Dr. Judy Olson for more information.
Developmental/Adapted Physical Education (D/APE)
This program may be completed at the undergraduate or graduate level in conjunction with the physical education licensure.
