Psychology Scholarships
The BSU Psychology Department awards
the following scholarships. For more information about the scholarships
contact the Chair of the Psychology
Department. BSU also offers a variety of scholarships (e.g., the BSU
Alumni Relative Scholarship).
The Bender Scholarship
This scholarship was originally endowed
by Ms.
June Bender (1977), a graduate of BSU's
Community Service program (now the Applied Psychology major). This scholarship
is awarded each year to an outstanding student majoring in Applied Psychology;
preference is given to females who are non-traditional students, reflecting
Ms. Bender's own educational path. (2007-08 award is $600.)

The Dyrhaug Scholarship
This scholarship was originally endowed
by Dr.
Donald Dyrhaug, a Professor Emeritus in Psychology and former Chair
of the Department of Psychology. This scholarship is awarded in alternate
years to an outstanding student majoring in Psychology or Music. The
scholarship for an outstanding student majoring in Psychology is awarded
in academic years that conclude in an odd number. (2007-08 award is $300.)
This award is not given in 2008.

The Rafferty Scholarships
These scholarships were originally endowed by Mr. Kirk Gregg, a BSU Psychology major. Mr. Gregg announced the endowment on the 25th anniversary of his graduation from BSU; the scholarships were given in the name of Dr. Jim Rafferty because of the impact he had on Mr. Gregg’s life as an undergraduate at BSU. Two scholarships are awarded each year to an outstanding student majoring in Psychology. Preference is given to applicants demonstrating an interest in research psychology. (2007-08 awards are $2500 each.)
