Summer Opportunities

You are strongly encouraged to talk to your advisor about taking advantage of these opportunities. It is often the case that well prepared students from rural 4-year colleges provide these programs with diversity.

(SSI): APA Summer Science Institute

The APA Summer Science Institute (SSI) is a 9-day, all-expenses-paid intensive program designed to immerse students in the science of psychology. The Institute's goals for its students are to explore the intellectual, personal, and social processes of scientific inquiry and to experience cutting-edge psychological research through seminars and hands-on laboratory activities.  The application deadline is usually in February.

NSF-REU: National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates - Summer Internship Programs

A number of BSU Psychology majors have attended these programs. They provide valuable research experiences and are a valuable asset when applying to doctoral programs. The programs for summer are usually finalized in January of the same year.

NSF funds programs in many different areas, including Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences

APA Undergraduate Research Opportunities and Internships

The APA Science Directorate knows how difficult it can be for undergraduate students to find research opportunities and internships and provides helpful resources.
