In 2003, 2008, and 2011 the department administered the Major Field Test in Psychology. This test is an important part of the Psychology Department's self-assessment and is used to improve the psychology program at BSU.
in 2011, a total of 43 BSU seniors took the test. Relative to scores from a comparison group of more than 350 colleges and universities, including schools in Minnesota (e.g., Carleton, St. Benedict/St. John's, Concordia, Gustavus Adolphus, and St. Thomas) as well as other well-known schools from around the country (e.g., Brigham Young, Butler, Clemson, Hofstra, Kenyon, Ohio State, Texas A & M, UND, and Xavier), the BSU mean scores correspond to the following percentiles:
