Program Description

M.S. in Counseling Psychology

The Master of Science in Counseling Psychology is the highest degree awarded by the Psychology Department at Bemidji State University. This program is designed to provide a broad background in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on the development of counseling skills, as supported by research on psychological principles and the helping process. 


The program culminates with either an original thesis or a research paper, and a 600 hour internship designed to hone the students' professional counseling skills. It is geared toward students seeking licensure as Licensed Professional Counselors and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors, as well as students seeking to continue their education at the doctoral level.
