Applications are accepted on a rolling basis as designated by the Psychology Department. To be considered for full acceptance into the program, applicants must
have their packets completed by the deadlines. One exception of this is
the GRE. You can show that you are registered for the GRE in your
admission packet but take it after the deadline.
Special Graduate Students may send in their application each semester, but they are restricted from certain courses that are open only to fully accepted graduate students.
The Application Packet contains:
1. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, preferably in psychology or related fields e.g. social work, child psychology. Students from other majors will need to contact the Grad Coordinator to discuss additional preparatory coursework. Those courses consist of: Introductory Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Lifespan Development (or another development course), Learning & Cognition, and an undergrad counseling skills course.
2. 3.0 GPA, or at least a 3.25 for the last 30 semester credits of graded course work. (See Graduate Catalog for Admission to the Graduate School.)
3. Completed Application for Admission to Graduate Study.
4. All undergraduate transcripts sent directly from the institution to the Graduate Admissions Office.
5. A non-refundable fee of $20 for first-time applicants.
6. Your personal statement about what you will bring to the program along with what you hope to achieve from the graduate degree.
7. Three letters of recommendation, one of which must be educational.
8. Copy of your Curriculum Vita.
9. Graduate Record Exam (GRE) required for all applicants.
All contents of the Application packet must be submitted to the School of Graduate Studies.
