Counseling Psychology

Masters of Science

The Counseling Psychology graduate program is designed to provide a broad background in counseling psychology with an emphasis on the development of counseling skills, as supported by research on psychological principles and the intervention techniques. The program culminates with either an original thesis or a research paper, and a 600-hour internship designed to hone the student's professional counseling skills. 

The Counseling Psychology program prepares students for

  1. professional work in two areas:
    1. counseling and psychotherapy; or
    2. higher education, student affairs; and
  2. entry into clinical or counseling psychology doctoral programs

Licensure

The program provides relevant coursework for students seeking licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC). Our students who become licensed mental health professionals work in a wide variety of human services settings including mental health centers, college counseling centers, and private practice.
