In addition to the scholarships available to all undergrads, the Psychology Department awards a number of specific scholarships for students in the program.
2009 Announcement 2009 Application
This scholarship was originally endowed by Ms. June Bender (1977), a graduate of BSU's Community Service program (now combined into the Psychology major). This scholarship is awarded each year to an outstanding student majoring in Psychology with an interest in counseling/clinical psychology; preference is given to females who are non-traditional students, reflecting Ms. Bender's own educational path. (2007-08 award was $700.)
2009 Announcement 2009 Application
This scholarship was originally endowed by Dr. Donald Dyrhaug, a Professor Emeritus in Psychology and former Chair of the Department of Psychology. This scholarship is awarded in alternate years to an outstanding student majoring in Psychology or Music. The scholarship for an outstanding student majoring in Psychology is awarded in academic years that conclude in an odd number. (2007-08 award was $400.)
These scholarships were originally endowed by Mr. Kirk Gregg, a BSU Psychology major. Mr. Gregg announced the endowment on the 25th anniversary of his graduation from BSU; the scholarships were given in the name of Dr. Jim Rafferty because of the impact he had on Mr. Gregg?s life as an undergraduate at BSU. Two scholarships are awarded each year to an outstanding student majoring in Psychology. Preference is given to applicants demonstrating an interest in research psychology. (2007-08 awards were $2500 each.)
