Some revisions in the BAS Applied Engineering and BAS Technology degree programs are being developed. These revisions are primarily due to re-calibration efforts at Bemidji State University and brought on by budget reductions for both the State of Minnesota and the Minnesota State College and University System. The proposed changes will take effect at either the beginning of Fall or Spring Semester, depending on the speed of the required approval process at the university.
Based on budget cuts, the number of course offerings will be reduced for each semester. It will be important for you to work closely with your advisor to schedule and monitor your degree progress, and to keep you on track to graduate within your time frame.
Students should not be impacted negatively in any significant way by these revisions. The specific impacts on students will be different, depending on the courses already completed by individual students. Some courses are being combined, some are changing credits, and there will be some minor modifications in the Required Core and Elective Areas. Please contact Dr. Jim McCracken at jmmcracken@bemidjistate.edu if you have questions.
Proposed BAS AE Degree Requirements
The BAS in Applied Engineering will continue to be offered at Bemidji State University. However, there will be some changes in course configuration. Some classes will be combined with other classes, there may be some new classes, and some classes may be dropped. It will be important for you to work with your advisor during the transition time to ensure that you complete the courses required for your degree. Every effort will be made to make this a smooth process for you. In some cases, there may be course substitutions or equivalencies or there may be some independent studies offered. As the revised program changes are approved by the university, information will be posted on these pages.
A Master Course Schedule is now posted for the next 2 years on the BAS Applied Engineering under the Master Course Schedule on these pages. Please note that some course changes are already taking place, so the titles of courses and credits will be slightly different than the courses listed on the degree requirement sheet. If you have any questions about this, please contact Dr. Jim McCracken at jmccracken@bemidjistate.edu.
