About Design Technology
Bachelor of Science
What advantages will I have at BSU?
- Real-world value: Coursework adheres to real-world design and production standards used by working production managers. Our students are challenged to be innovative, while completing projects on time and on budget.
- Art and design: Students gain a strong foundation in the principles of art and design with courses from within the Department of Visual Arts.
- Hands-on learning: Our highly interactive lab courses allow students to ask questions and seek feedback from faculty and peers. Ongoing critiques and discussions help students develop critical-thinking skills in assessing design solutions.
- Presentation skills: Our courses require students to present projects in formal and informal settings to build strong communications skills.
- Internships: Our programs include professional internships that help students build confidence and strengthen credentials. Many interns are paid, and some intern positions lead to full-time employment.
- Industry connections: We maintain strong industry ties with an advisory board that helps keep the university current on design and communication trends, challenges and technologies. Our board represents about 45 design-related companies from throughout the United States, including a strong contingent of regionally based companies. The board meets annually at Bemidji State University.
