Qualifying for Financial Aid

Students do not qualify for financial aid unless they are enrolled in a minimum of six credits of course work in a classroom setting (non Guided/Self-Directed courses). Also, students admitted under Special Student status are not formally admitted to the University, and are not eligible for financial aid.

Pre-registration each semester is essential to avoid delays in receiving financial aid in a timely manner. The number of registered credits should coincide with your financial aid status. Students enrolled in Guided/Self-Directed Study courses must also be enrolled at least half-time in Bemidji State University classroom-based courses each semester for financial aid consideration. Classroom courses may be on-campus or at off-campus sites or online courses utilizing Desire2Learn.

Students who are taking courses through the Center for Extended Learning and receiving aid will need to follow the same beginning and ending dates each semester as on-campus students. If you have any questions, you are encouraged to call the Financial Aid Office (218-755-2034, 1-800-475-2001 ext. 3, or email at financialaid@bemidjistate.edu).
