*ED 6920 Directed Group Study is offered by the advisor or a graduate faculty member and provides the required written examination for all graduate students in regular education Masters degree programs. The written examination is based on the core courses that focus specifically on the National Board of Professional Teacher Standards. Also note that ED 6920 must be taken concurrently with ED 6980 or ED 6990. Contact your advisor for details.

Elective Courses

Each unit is a 3-week on-campus summer session. The Education Department highly recommends that students choose 3 complete units (18 credits).

Unit 1: 7 credits

  • MATH 6201 Discrete Mathematics for Elementary and Middle School Teachers (2 credits)
  • MATH 6202 Discrete Mathematics Implementation Project (1 credit)

Unit 3: 6 credits

  • MATH 5500 Geometry for Elementary and Middle School Teachers A (3 credits)
  • MATH 6501 Geometry for Elementary and Middle School Teachers B (2 credits)
  • MATH 6502 Geometry Implementation Project (1 credit)

Unit 4: 6 credits

  • MATH 5600 Data Investigations for Elementary and Middle School Teachers (3 credits)
  • MATH 6601 Probability for Elementary and Middle School Teachers (2 credits)
