Registration
Registering for online, on-campus, ITV, or guided/self-directed courses is easy and can be done in a variety of ways.
If you have been admitted to Bemidji State University through the Center for Extended learning or as a graduate student, you will be able to register for online or guided/self directed courses using e-services inside the MyBSU Portal. If you are admitted as an on-campus student, you may need instructor and department permission to register for online or guided/self-directed courses. You will find the form and additional information on the Course Work Only page.
When a required course is only offered through the Center for Extended Learning, that course may be considered for tuition banding. If you believe this might be true for you, contact the Business Office for further information.
Registration Policies
- Classes are limited in size; registrations are processed on a first come, first served basis.
- Graduate level courses are numbered 5000 and 6000. Undergraduate students should not register for these.
- Arranged Courses: Unlisted courses must be arranged by the student and the advisor, instructor, and department chair. An Arranged Course Request Form must be used to register for arranged courses. These forms are available from the Records Office. They can be mailed to you upon request. Registration for arranged courses should be completed on campus, since Arranged Course Request Forms require department and division approval.
- Students residing in another state must pay nonresident tuition, or if appropriate, the reciprocity rate.
- The class schedule is not to be regarded as a contract.
- Credits are in semester hours.
- In compliance with Minnesota Public Law 1974, Chapter 479, data requested from the students in the registration process will be used for the purpose of advisement, to locate a student in case of emergency, and to provide statistical information. Failure to supply all requested information may jeopardize a student's progress at this institution.

Senior Citizen Registration
Senior Citizen Enrollment: Minnesota Law 197b, Chapter 19, establishes the right of Minnesota residents reaching the age of 62 to enroll in courses at the cost of $18 per credit hour, plus course fees, when the course is taken for credit and to audit courses at no charge only when space is available. If you wish to take advantage of this option, please contact the Center for Extended Learning or the Records Office for a senior citizen application.
Withdrawal from School
In order to completely withdraw from school, students must file for an honorable dismissal or be subject to failing grades. This action is to be initiated in the Office of Student Affairs, SN 101. If you are not able to do this in person, a letter or phone call (followed by a letter) to the Records Office will be acceptable.
