Admission to the DLiTE Program follows a four-step process:
- Step 1 - Fulfill Prerequisites
- Step 2 - Submit Application Materials (Details and forms below)
- Step 3 - Application Review by DLiTE Program Manager
- Step 4 - Application Review by Bemidji State University
Step 1 - Fulfill Prerequisites
Prior to applying to the DLiTE Program, you must have:
- Meet the minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA requirement.
- Completed at least a Minnesota Transfer Curriculum, Associate of Arts Degree, or a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree.
- Taken the PRAXIS I: Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) or the Computer-Based Academic Skills Assessment. Contact Education Testing Service (ETS) for more information. Although the PPST is not a prerequisite for applying to the DLiTE Program, it must be taken prior to enrolling in the first course.
- An internet connection, a video cassette recorder, a computer with at least 128MB RAM, and a CD-ROM drive.
- The appropriate operating system and browser to support the course management software chosen by Bemidji State University
REVIEW INFORMATION ABOUT ADDITIONAL COURSES REQUIRED
The following courses are required in the Bemidji State University Elementary Education Program. These courses are offered online through Bemidji State University or our partnering institutions. The courses below can be taken before or during the program.
Two math courses:
- MATH 1011 Math for Elementary School Teachers 1 (3 semester credits)
- MATH 1013 Math for Elementary School Teachers 2 (3 semester credits)
- Both courses must be taken prior to enrolling in ED 3221 Math Methods, BUT NOT prior to beginning the DLiTE Program. See the MnTC Guidelines for further information.
Two health courses that need to be taken prior to the end of the program, BUT NOT prior to beginning, include:
- HLTH 3400 Health and Drugs in Society (2 semester credits)
- HLTH 4100 Health Education in the Elementary School (2 semester credits)
Step 2 - Submit Completed Application Materials for Review
FIRST:
- Be sure to complete the Bemidji State University Application Online
- Make the following choices on the first page of the application to ensure your application is processed for the DLiTE Program:
- For Type of Major, select "online"
- For Intended Area of Study, select "Elementary Education"
- For Intended Degree/Award, select "Bachelor of Science"
SECOND:
In addition to the Bemidji State University Online Application, print and complete the following materials:
Mail or FAX the completed Application Checklist and the signed Mentor Application Form in one envelope to:

Step 3 - Application Review by DLiTE Program Manager
Your application materials will be reviewed by the Program Manager of the DLiTE program.
Step 4 - Application Review by Bemidji State University
Your application will be reviewed by Bemidji State University.
Once your completed application materials have reached Bemidji State University and is approved for entry, you will receive a letter of acceptance. Finally, you will receive a new student packet of information from The DLiTE office.
