Getting Started

Accepting applications for Fall 2012, classes begin August 2012

Step 1 - Fulfill Prerequisites

Admission to the DLiTE Program:

• Meet the minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA requirement.
• Have a completed MnTC, AA, BA, BS degree or more.
• The MTLE (Minnesota Teacher Licensure Examinations) must be taken prior to starting the program.  Click link to access the website to schedule testing and learn more.  You can also learn more about the licensure exams here.
  
• Submit official transcripts of all schools attended directly to:

• You must have an internet connection (high speed preferred) and a computer with at least 128MB RAM
• A signed mentor application must be received prior to starting courses
  

Step 2 - Submit Completed Application Materials for Review

Complete the Bemidji State University Application Online

• Make the following choices on the first page of the application to ensure your application is processed for the DLiTE Program:
• For Type of Major, select "online"
• For Intended Area of Study, select "Elementary Education"
• For Intended Degree/Award, select "Bachelor of Science"

In addition to the Bemidji State University Online Application, print and complete the following materials:

• Print and follow the steps on the APPLICATION CHECKLIST.
• View the guidelines for finding a Teacher Mentor on our ONLINE TUTORIAL.
• Have your mentor complete the MENTOR APPLICATION FORM You must have a mentor prior to starting.  Mentor selection:  No family or friends, minimum three years experience, currently teaching in your area in a K-6 public school.  See here for mentor requirements.
  
• Make certain your mentor has the Principal/Mentor Teacher Responsibilities Letter
  
• Submit official transcripts of all schools attended directly to admissions office.
  
  

Mail or FAX - ONLY the completed Application Checklist and the signed Mentor Application Form in one envelope to:

Step 3 - Application Review by DLiTE Program Manager

Your application materials will be reviewed by the Program Manager of the DLiTE program.

Step 4 - Application Review by Bemidji State University

Your application will be reviewed by Bemidji State University.

Once your completed application materials have reached Bemidji State University and all requirements have been met, you will receive a letter of acceptance. You will also receive informational messages via email throughout the process.
