The Role of the Academic Department & Program Advisor

One of the student's first contacts with BSU should be their academic advisor, who is assigned upon the student's acceptance into the graduate studies program. 

Each student's program advisor acts as a guide through the program's requirements.  Since the advisor is involved with the day-to-day processes of a student's graduate program, students should meet with him/her regularly concerning their academic progress.

The academic department also plays a large role in the graduate experience.  The department makes the admission decision and ensures the quality of the curriculum.  The academic department has a vested interest in its graduate students because, upon completion, its graduates become ambassadors for their graduate program.  They want to see their students succeed and are happy to assist them throughout their graduate education and experience.
