Student Support Services

Bemidji State University desires to promote academic excellence in its students and therefore provides a variety of services to create the best learning environment possible.  Students may receive assistance through the following venues:

American Indian Resource Center (AIRC)

The American Indian Resource Center is a place were Indian students can gather for learning, support and cultural interaction.  We offer help with class scheduling, academic, and personal counseling. The AIRC is a 10667 sq ft facility which includes offices for the center's staff as well as the Indian Studies program and the Ojibwe language program.  Visit the American Indian Resource Center's website for more details.  Come and join our Native community of life long learners in this global society.

Athletics

As a BSU student, you are granted admission to most athletic events free of charge with a valid student ID.  For complete schedules of sports and ticket information, see the BSU Athletics website.

Career Services

The primary purpose of Career Services is to aid students and alumni in assessing, exploring, focusing and implementing their career goals. Upon completion of a degree, graduates should be prepared to function responsibly as members of an interdependent international community. In addition, they should be empowered with the tools and expertise necessary to successfully enter a professional field of employment. Career planning does not end at graduation but will continue throughout one's lifetime.  For more information, details on registering for the GRE (Graduate Record Exam), or office hours, contact Career Services (218-755-2038, career@bemidjistate.edu) or visit the Career Services website.

Center of Extended Learning (CEL)

The Center for Extended Learning at Bemidji State University was designed as a way for people to have access to courses and degree programs, whether they are unable to complete traditional courses due to a full personal and professional schedule or they simply live too far from a university to be able to attend traditional classroom sessions. Through the CEL, students are free to take the individual courses they need, or even complete an entire degree - right from the comfort and convenience of their own home or office. The Center for Extended Learning is here to help all students make the most of their education.  For more information visit the Center for Extended Learning's Distance Education website.

Counseling Center

While pursuing your academic and professional goals at BSU, the Counseling Center offers you a unique opportunity to gain personal awareness and develop skills that will not only aid you in becoming the most successful student you can be, but also the most successful person and community member you can be.  The BSU Counseling Center is located in the A-wing of Birch Hall. For more details, please see the BSU Counseling Services website, or call 218-755-2024.  If you are in need of counseling services after office hours, call the Community Crisis Line (1-800-422-0045), or if there is an emergency, call BSU Security (218-755-3888).

Security & Safety

The Department of Security & Safety is responsible for all campus security and parking enforcement at both BSU.  We provide a limited campus escort service 24 hours a day, jump start equipment, and weapon storage.   The Department of Security & Safety is located in the lower level of Walnut Hall.  The office is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to stop by the office, call (218-755-3888), or email at security@bemidjistate.edu.
