Dr. Sanjeev Phukan, program director

Dr. Sanjeev PhukanDr. Sanjeev Phukan is a professor of Business Administration at BSU. He has been with the university since 1982. He developed the university’s MBA program and serves as director of the program. He also serves as the university’s Director of International Relations. He received his MS in Management Science at BITS in India, his MBA at Illinois State University and his Ph.D. at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst, Australia. He serves as a visiting professor at universities in South Africa, Vietnam and Malaysia. He is the author of more than 30 research papers, and his research interests include corporate governance and ethics in information technology.

Dr. Joann Fredrickson

Dr. Joann FredricksonDr. Joann Fredrickson is a professor in the Business Administration Department at BSUand teaches financial and management classes. She received her Ph.D. from South Dakota State University and her master’s degree from St. Cloud State University. Her research interests include behavioral decision-making, organizations and student engagement and is published in Advances in Behavioral Finance & Economics, Academy of Educational Leadership Journal, Journal of Behavioral Studies in Business, and College Teaching. She has more than 15 years of university teaching experience and nearly a decade of executive leadership experience in higher education.

Dr. Dean Frost

Dr. Dean FrostDr. Dean Frost received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington in 1981. His organizational experience includes work for the Department of Defense and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, as well as such corporations as INTEL, Johnstone Supply, Crown Zellerbach, Newhouse Publications and others. His research has been funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the American Psychological Association. His most recent publication appeared in 2013 as an article in the Journal of Management Development. He has been at BSU since 2008.

Dr. Anthony Iaquinto

Dr. Anthony IaquintoBorn and raised in Minnesota, Dr. Anthony Iaquinto earned his bachelor of arts in History at the University of Minnesota. After receiving an MBA in marketing and a Ph.D. in strategic management from Columbia University, he spent over a decade in Japan as both a college professor and an entrepreneur. He is an author of more than two dozen research papers and a book on entrepreneurship, which won an award for one of the best business books in 2006.

Dr. Young Seob Son

Dr. Young Seob SonDr. Young Seob Son received a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Memphis and a Master of Science from Iowa State University and completed the Postdoctoral Bridge Program at the University of Florida. He teaches statistical and quantitative analysis, managerial finance and derivatives and risk management. His research is published in the journals of Environmental Economics and Management, Global Business and Finance Review and Multinational Business Review.

Dr. David Smith

Dr. David SmithDr. David Smith teaches marketing and marketing related topics. He received his Ph.D. from Capella University. His research interests include consumer ethnocentrism and product placement. Prior to teaching, he owned and operated a small retail business and earlier served as CEO of a New York Stock Exchange listed company.

Dr. Halbana Tarmizi

Dr. Halbana TarmiziDr. Halbana Tarmizi is an assistant professor in the Business Administration Department at BSU. He received his Ph.D. in information technology from the College of Information Science and Technology at?the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He holds a master’s in telecommunications from Michigan State University and a Diplom Ingenieur (Dipl.-Ing.) in electrical engineering from RWTH in Aachen, Germany. His research interests include collaboration technology, online communities, virtual teams, social network, health informatics and telecommunication. He has published and presented his works in the International Journal of e-Collaboration and e-Service Journal as well as conferences such as AMCIS, HICSS and MWAIS. Before entering the academic world, he worked in the IT industry as a design engineer, project manager and business manager. He has experience studying and working in several countries, including Germany, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.

Dr. Valerie Wallingford

Dr. Valerie WallingfordDr. Valerie Wallingford is an associate professor of management in?the Business Administration Department at BSU. She has publications in the Journal of Management Development, Journal of the North American Management Society, American Journal of Health Sciences and the Journal of Business Leadership, as well as through Ivey Publishing, and VDM Publishing. She received her Ph.D. in business administration with a specialization in management from Northcentral University. As a Certified Medical Practice Executive and Senior Professional in Human Resources, her interests include human resources management, leadership power and influence, organizational structure, and talent management. She has more than 20 years of practical management experience.

Dr. Kari Wood

Dr. Kari WoodDr. Kari Wood is a professor of business at BSU. She has been an educator for more than 13 years at the university level and conducted industry software training prior to her professorship. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Bemidji State, a master’s degree in business administration from Minnesota State University, Moorhead, and a Ph.D. in organizational management, with an emphasis in information technology from Capella University. Kari is a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT). She holds Quality Matters (QM) certification as a peer reviewer for online course design and is also a Certified Computer Examiner (CCE).
