Fire Ring Voices is a journal of men's writing and art published annually at Bemidji State University. Fire Ring Voices publishes the work of new and established male writers and artists from Minnesota and the surrounding areas, and welcomes submissions covering a wide array of issues and topics related to the male experience. Founded in 2003 by students at BSU, Fire Ring Voices continues to be managed and published by a student editorial board.
The call for submissions is open from September 1 - January 1 each year, and a public reading and reception is held during the last week of April. The guidelines for submissions are as follows:
- Written work must be word-processed, with the author's name and the title and genre of the piece included on each page.
- Up to five poems and four prose pieces (maximum 1,000 words) may be submitted.
- Visual art must be black and white, with the name of the artist and title of the piece clearly marked. Packaging and postage must be included if the artist wishes the return of the work.
- Written work will not be returned, and electronic submissions are not accepted.
- All submissions should include a letter of introduction, a short bio suitable for publication, and contact information for the author.
