MEET YOUR ADMISSIONS REP

John Engquist
Admissions Representative
I meet with prospective students from all over the state of Minnesota, primarily the east side. I try to make myself available as much as possible to answer any questions about BSU. I love helping high school students -- and their parents -- find the college that is right for them and fits their budget. I'd love to see every student come to BSU, but I know everyone has to find the one that feels right and has the best fit. Don't hesitate to ask me about life in Bemidji, how to transfer college credits, or what you are thinking about studying. I'm here for you!
Things I enjoy in my free time:
Family first, but I do get outdoors a lot for hunting, fishing, softball and soccer. I also like to read and even try my hand in the kitchen from time to time.
What I studied in college:
Mass communications with an emphasis in journalism. At Northwestern College in St. Paul, I was also the editor of the student newspaper called The Column.
My favorite place on campus:
Anywhere by the lake, but if I had to go indoors, I'd be inside the Glas watching a hockey game.
Advice for prospective students
Make a list of a few schools you are considering and VISIT THEM ALL. Each campus will have its own unique feel. Also, think carefully about the size of the school and what it will have to offer.
