Scholarships Available to American Indian Students

The American Indian Resource Center staff will work with students in identifying which of the following scholarships you may be eligible for as well as assisting in locating other financial resources that you may be eligible to apply for.
Bemidji State University American Indian Scholarships
Eligibility: American Indian heritage plus additional criteria for some of the scholarships.
- Scholarships range from $500 - $1500.
- Application deadlines for the following year is early March.

Minnesota Indian Scholarship Program
Eligibility: Any American Indian that is ¼ degree or more Indian blood; registered with a federally recognized tribe; must be a resident of Minnesota for at least 12 months for other purposes than educational.
- Grants based on college need, up to $3000 per year.
- Priority deadline to apply is July 1 of each year.

Ethel Curry Scholarship Program
Eligibility: the following must be on file at the Minnesota Higher Education Office:
- Proof of blood quantum ¼ or more from a Minnesota-based tribe or community.
- Minnesota Indian Scholarship Application.
- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Deadline to apply is May 31 of each calendar year.

Two Feathers Endowment Scholarship Program
Eligibility: Proof of tribal enrollment and/or blood quantum from a federally recognized American Indian tribe or community.
- Official transcripts and a copy of your FAFSA application will be needed.
- Deadline to apply is July 1 of each calendar year.

Leech Lake Scholarship Program
Eligibility: Must be an enrolled member of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.
- Priority deadline is June 15 of each year.

Red Lake Scholarship Program
Eligibility: Must be an enrolled member of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa.
- Priority deadline is June 15 of each year.

White Earth Scholarship Program
Eligibility: Must be an enrolled member of the White Earth Band of Chippewa.
- Priority deadline is June 15 of each year.

Grand Portage Scholarship Program
Eligibility: Must be an enrolled member of the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.
- Must have application totally completed at least two weeks before school begins.

Fond du Lac Scholarship Program
Eligibility: Must be an enrolled member of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.
- Application priority deadline is June 15 of each calendar year.

Eligibility: Must be an enrolled member of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.
