Bemidji State withholds junior defensive back from competition

Nov. 2, 2009

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State University announced today that it is withholding Anthony Ragsdale (Bremerton, Wash.), a junior defensive back on the BSU football team, from competition.

The University has become aware of a potential administrative oversight in the transfer process. University officials are investigating the matter and have forwarded their initial findings to the NCAA.

“As soon as the possible infraction was brought to our attention, we looked into the situation and notified the NCAA and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference,” stated BSU Director of Athletics Dr. Rick Goeb. “As a part of the process, we are withholding Anthony from competition until the NCAA renders its decision. Again this stems from an administrative misinterpretation of the NCAA’s transfer policies and not from the actions of the individual player involved.”

Bemidji State will not comment further until the situation has been resolved.
