The Bemidji State University baseball team announced today the signing of Zach Braun (Lakeville, Minn.) and Aaron Young (Urbandale, Iowa) to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. Braun and Young are the first two players head coach Tim Bellew has inked during the early period in his five years as the BSU skipper. Braun and Young will begin their careers at BSU in 2010-11.

The Bemidji State University Beavers baseball team split its final double-header of the season with the Montana State University-Billings Yellow Jackets to salvage a four-game series split. MSUB scored a run in the bottom of the fifth in Game 1 and held on for a 3-2 win while the Beavers bounced back with a five run fourth in Game 2 earning a 7-5 victory for its seventeenth win of the season, most wins by a BSU squad since 2002 when the Beavers garnered nineteen wins.

Bemidji State and Montana State-Billings split a non-conference doubleheader Saturday. Each team assembled a late-inning rally to earn a victory. BSU posted four runs in the eighth of a 9-5 victory, while the Yellowjackets posted five in the sixth inning of game two to push to a 7-3 win in the nightcap.

The Bemidji State University baseball team (15-34; 8-22 NSIC) will be back on the road one last time to wrap up its 2009 season. The Beavers will head west for a four-game series with Montana State University-Billings (21-23; 15-13 GNAC) on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3 in Billings, Mont. It will be the Beavers first ever meeting with the Yellow Jackets with Saturday's double-dip starting at 1 p.m. with Sunday's double-header starting at 12 p.m. from Dehler Park.

Last week the Beavers and Marauders split a doubleheader in Bismarck, N.D. with UM taking the first game 10-6 and BSU taking the nightcap 13-8 to salvage the split. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. from the BSU Baseball Field on senior day.

The Bemidji State University baseball took two-of-three games from Concordia University, St. Paul on Monday afternoon to earn a four-game series split with the Golden Bears. In Game 1, BSU jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held on for a 5-2 win. Game 2 saw BSU score seven runs through the first three innings to take a 9-2 lead eventually earning the victory 10-2 and saw a late inning rally fall short in a 7-6 loss in the nightcap.

The Bemidji State University Beavers dropped a 4-2 decision to the Concordia University, St. Paul Golden Bears at the BSU Baseball Field Saturday night. CU jumped out to a 3-0 lead through the first three innings and held off a BSU rally to win the first game of a scheduled four-game series, 4-2. Game 2 of the double-dip was postponed due to cold temperatures and is scheduled to resume tomorrow at noon with games three and four to follow at the BSU Baseball Field.

Bemidji State’s baseball team managed 14 hits off three Minnesota Duluth pitchers and scored two runs in a two-game double-header sweep at the hands of the Bulldogs this afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. A fourth-inning pinch hit RBI single by Paul Newman (Sr., 1B, Durhamville, N.Y.) and a RBI double in the seventh by Alex Messick (So., C, Lakeville, Minn.) accounted for BSU’s two runs in a 13-2 Game 1 loss, and BSU was held to five hits and stuck out 11 times in a 4-0 shutout loss in Game 2.

The Bemidji State University baseball team split a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) double-header with the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs Saturday afternoon at the BSU Baseball Field. Game 1 was never in doubt as BSU jumped out to a 11-0 lead through four innings of play to take the first game of the double-header, 13-2. Game 2 saw the Bulldogs use a seven run sixth to earn a split in the double-dip, 13-5.

Bemidji State University head baseball coach Tim Bellew today announced a time change for the Beavers' doubleheader versus University of Minnesota Duluth this weekend (April 18-19). The four-game, two day series originally scheduled to get underway at noon Saturday, has been pushed back to a 2 p.m. first pitch. The Bemidji State University baseball team snapped its seven-game losing skid Wednesday afternoon as the Beavers earned a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) split with the Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs in Marshall, Minn. SMSU took the opener 17-0 behind six of its 11 home runs on the day but a nine run seventh inning by BSU in Game 2 spoiled the thoughts of a SMSU sweep as the Beavers picked up their second conference win of the season, 16-10.

The Warriors outscored the Beavers 11-1 in game one and 6-1 in game two, to improve their record to 14-7 overall and 6-0 in the NSIC while dropping BSU’s record to 8-19 and 1-8 in the conference.

Since the Beavers dropped their second round game, 8-2 to Concordia-St. Paul Friday, BSU has been eliminated. The conference championship game is set for 1:00 p.m. Sunday and will match CSP and Wayne State with an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Tournament on the line. |

 Bemidji State used a strong pitching performance from Casey Allar (Jr., Sartell, Minn.) to upset the No. 2 seed Upper Iowa Peacocks, 5-2, in the first round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) tournament today in Wayne, Neb. The win for the Beavers is just the third win in the NSIC tournament all-time and the first in tournament play since the 1997 season.
